On December 30th, the "Empowering Industrial Low-Carbon Transformation and Building a Green Ecological Greater Bay Area – Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Carbon Footprint Alliance Establishment Conference" was held in Guangzhou.
It is understood that the establishment of the alliance is an important action to implement policies such as the "Guangdong Provincial Plan for Promoting the Pilot Construction of Product Carbon Footprint Certification in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area" and the "Guangdong Provincial Work Plan for the Construction of a Carbon Footprint Management System." The "Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area" proposes "promoting research and application demonstration of a mutual recognition mechanism for carbon labels in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao," and the establishment of this alliance is also an important action to implement this task.
The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Carbon Footprint Alliance is a cross-regional, non-profit collaborative platform led by the Guangdong Low-Carbon Development Promotion Association, in conjunction with relevant technical service agencies, industry associations, and key enterprises in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao. The alliance focuses on establishing and improving a carbon footprint management system for key products, aiming to enhance the supply capacity of green and low-carbon products and services, promote international mutual recognition of carbon footprints, and accelerate the formation of beneficial experiences and institutional achievements, providing support for Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao to jointly build a world-class beautiful bay area.
The alliance will establish a regular communication mechanism, promote the joint development and mutual recognition of carbon footprint standards in the Greater Bay Area, publish and update lists of accepted rules and standards, and carry out carbon footprint capacity building.
The person in charge at the event introduced that the establishment of the alliance marks a significant step forward in collaborative innovation for Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao in promoting regional green and low-carbon development and exploring the establishment of a carbon footprint management system. Currently, the first batch of alliance members includes more than 60 institutions and enterprises from Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao. The scope of participation will continue to expand in the future, deepening regional green and low-carbon cooperation.
